Winter and Summer Holidays in The Alps

Most people would picture a holiday in the French Alps as an opportunity for some great skiing or snowboarding - but there's plenty of fun and excitement to be had all year round. Many chalet owners and companies are realising the potential for year round visits to these locations, at least those where year round visits are possible - sometimes, the snow is all a visit to a ski chalet is good for.

But a chalet holiday in Samoens, French Alps could be everything that holidaymakers are looking for in a trip away; a stunning location that combines the rustic charm of a farming village with the modern amenities that most of us are accustomed to. There are some beautifully decorated luxury chalets where many will find UK satellite TV, WiFi, board games and more, some even have hot tubs available for a relaxing end to a day of adventuring. Self-catered or fully catered chalets are available with some being able to provide meals made with local produce and to source local wines to compliment the meal.

There's a whole host of activities to do outdoors and plenty of things to experience, no matter what time of the year you may decide to visit. Winter visitors to the region can enjoy a world class skiing holiday. Choose from 130 runs or go off piste - snowboarders have access to a selection of parks to hone their skills. Parents can introduce their kids to skiing and snowboarding for the first time, or take them on a dog sled ride. If they're not ready for all that yet, approved daycare for little ones can be arranged, giving parents a little time off.

Unlike some other chalet holiday destinations, Samoens is as alive with activity in the spring and summer as it is in the winter months. You could take to the mountains for a walk, explore the village or if you crave a little adventure, take on mountain biking, white water rafting or climbing. A number of beautiful golf courses that wind through the mountains are available to visitors, as are tennis courts, swimming pools and areas for archery. Had enough of land and water? Experience paragliding over some breathtaking scenery - take a course and learn to go solo or just enjoy the views and the ride as a passenger.

Even with all this activity, sometimes getting away to relax is just what the doctor ordered and somewhere like Samoens is a great place to unwind. Take a book and a picnic out on the rolling landscape of the French Alps, visit the local spa and indulge yourself in some pampering or just enjoy a world that's transformed season by season.

There's a holiday for everyone - and Absolute Alpinecan organise top level accommodation for a family holiday or for large groups, with a wealth of information provided on the local area, things to do and places to go. It might just be the ideal place to start your search for the perfect chalet holiday.
